Split difference (part 1)

Clouds swept across the sky like majestic wildebeest. Except they were fluffy and white and the sky was blue, so they swept more like drowned sheep in a particularly clear but deep lake that somehow had a gentle current, despite being a body of standing water. These clouds didn’t give a toss for the reconciliation of metaphors. There was a smell in the air that was less like cut grass and more towards that of an old gel air freshener that was long past the point of needing to be replaced. The figure in the field didn’t like the smell and he definitely didn’t like  the clouds. [continue]
